Tips for Parents with Kids Going Back to School
The start of the new school year is a difficult
time for the entire family – the kids have a hard time adjusting to the
rigorous schedule, to getting up early and performing at school, while the
parents have a hard time integrating the school schedule of the kids into their
own schedule. However, with some planning and organization nothing is
impossible – here are a few tips from local Littleton counseling advisors, on how make the transition easier:
-
Switch to the sleeping routine
you usually follow during the school year a few weeks before school starts – going
to bed earlier and getting up earlier (probably much, much earlier) than during
the vacation will make re-adjustment easier for the kids and everyone will be
less tired;
-
Take your kids to some interesting
exhibitions in museums to set them into study mood before the school starts;
-
Ask your kids to invite a
couple of school friends to spend some time playing before the first school day
– it will refresh the social ties and will make your kids look forward to
meeting their friends again in school;
-
Involve your kids into making
the list of school supplies that they will need and go shopping for the
supplies together.
