The Most Helpful Tips for Achieving a Healthy Work/Life Balance
We often feel overwhelmed in our daily lives, either because
we seem to have too much work, or because we need to make great efforts to feel
good in our personal lives. The following tips will help you get a better
understanding of what to do to achieve a healthier work/life balance:
1.
The first thing you have to do is to work on
simplifying your thought processes. You won’t get anywhere if you plan your
life from a place of overthinking and anxiety. Take some time to relax and
breathe deeply before even checking your schedule for the day.
2.
Set some time away for yourself and your family
no matter what happens at work. You can set up your schedule so that it’s less
likely that these activities would infringe upon your work schedule, even if
you’re late or you have to work extra hours. Just plan them 2-3 hours after you
get home.
3.
Meditate 10-15 minutes every morning. After your
daily exercise and before having breakfast, take some time alone to meditate
and calm your mind while keeping it focused. This is the best time for it,
since the body will be relaxed and refreshed after your workout.
4.
Remember that all activities you have in your
day-to-day life require interaction with people. Even in meditation, you
interact with yourself. So remember to offer appreciation, rather than just
time, both in work and in your personal life. As Dale Carnegie said, “You
can make more friends in two months by becoming interested in other people than
you can in two years by trying to get other people interested in you.”
If you find that meditation does not seem to be working for you, the therapists at Southwest Counseling Associates can offer you assistance in resolving most issues you may be facing.
